With bitter cold winds, the snow is a perfect powder – the type skiers dream about…and the type that blows and blusters about in blinding white, arranging itself into formidable drifts.

Still, working my way from downtown Ogunquit, down Shore Road, past the Hartwell House Inn and into Perkins Cove – the empty roads of our beloved town were absolutely otherworldly in their glistening white magnificence.

The same places and sights we see every day look completely different, changed by weather: Village Food Market, Cornerstone, the historic Thompson House, Barnacle Billie’s, the Ogunquit Harbormaster’s building, the Ice Crusher boat in the cove.

Hard to believe that in a couple months time this will all be a distant memory, and we’ll be busy rediscovering the magic of Ogunquit in the spring.
