Ogunquit, Maine is a town of Norman Rockwell quaintness – especially when the town gets covered with snow!
The other day, I had a quick errand to run in downtown Ogunquit. I walked outside of The Hartwell House Inn B&B to get in the car, took one look at the winter wonderland I was surrounded by, and immediately went back inside the Inn to grab my camera before taking the 2 minute ride to the Post Office.
Letter mailed, I left the car parked in the center of town and headed off on foot through the quiet streets and pathways in the downtown area of Ogunquit and along Shore Road.
So much to look at. A wealth of beauty to be mindful of. The freshly fallen snow offering temporary vistas begging to be captured and preserved in the photographic form.
A couple hours later, I realized it was beginning to get dark. Even though the cold salt air blowing in off of the Gulf of Maine was invigorating, and I’d had the streets mostly to myself for the entire duration, I headed back to the car and the warmth of the Inn.
In Ogunquit, it’s easy to find yourself lost in discovery and appreciation of the town. Simple trips to the Post Office spontaneously turn into whole afternoons spent enjoying this place we’re so lucky to call home. Never have I been another place where taking a break from the routines of life is so effortless. Ogunquit calls at you. Asks you to see it. And you can’t help but obey 🙂
