Plein Air painting in Perkins Cove is a time-honored Ogunquit Art Colony tradition.

That’s why all of the artists and art-lovers will be in Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 (rain date: September 8th) for the 4th Annual Perkins Cove Plein Air Painting Event.

Throughout the decades, this “beautiful place by the sea” has seen a non-stop parade of colorful artists drawing, painting, etching and photographing each and every one of its visually-enticing nooks and crannies. Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine is truly hallowed ground when it comes to American art history. The birthplace of the storied Ogunquit Art Colony now also serves as the beating heart of one of Maine’s most important cultural happenings: Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove Plein Air Art Event.

Additional Information: Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove Plein Air Painting Event 2024

If you attend Ogunquit’s 3rd Annual Perkins Cove Plein Air Event, you’ll be able to enjoy the timeless sight of plein air painters in the act of putting brush to canvas in (and around) Perkins Cove — the heart of the Ogunquit Art Colony

Then there will be judging in Perkins Cove for Professional and Amateur awards.

Judge for the Ogunquit, Maine’s 2024 Perkins Cove Plain Air Event is Olena Babek

Olena Babak is an award-winning, classically trained artist, whose landscapes and figurative works can be found in galleries, public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

Some of her selected awards: Best of Show in Tilghman and St. Michaels, Easton Plein Air, Best Marine Cape Ann Plein Air, Artists Choice Plein Air Richmond, 1st place Quick Draw & People’s Choice Award Finger Lakes Plein Air, Best Representation of Rockies National Park, 1st place Booth Bay Plein Air and many others.

Her work has been featured in “Plein Air Magazine”, the “Poet’s and Artist’s: 100 Great Drawings,” and the “Classicist” as well as “Strokes of Genius” series.

Perkins Cove will also be the site of a Wet Paint Sale where you’ll have the chance to purchase a one of a kind piece from the “beautiful place by sea” that you’ll cherish forever before the paint is even fully dry!

There will also be historical tours, art history talks, artist demonstrations, AND live music in Perkins Cove!
