Hartwell House Inn – Ogunquit, Maine Innkeeper, Charlene M Taubert, witnessed this herd of deer taking in the scenery along Shore Road in Ogunquit, Maine: Beautiful Place by the Sea this morning – and then hopping the fence of the Hartwell House before heading into the backyard towards the Josias River.
“I was sitting in the Thompson House, when I saw the deer walk right by the window on their way towards Shore Road,” states Charlene. “Each group is led by a matriarchal female, in charge of the herd. I had the honor of witnessing her exceptional leadership ability early this morning as she and her graceful and obedient followers passed by my window, crossed the street, jumped the fence, and found their way to the backyard. What an inspiring way to start the day!“
