Ogunquit Reschedules Town Meeting

S. Judson Dunaway Center, Ogunquit, Maine

During their meeting on April 21st, 2020, select board members in Ogunquit voted unanimously to reschedule the town meeting originally set for June 9th to the new date of Tuesday, July 14th so it will now coincide with Maine’s state referendum voting and primary election date.

This decision mirrors identical postponements made by other nearby towns as a result of the COVID-19 crisis; including York, Kennebunk, and Wells.

Additional Information

Ogunquit Town Clerk, Chris Murphy, informed board members that she was of the opinion that shifting the town meeting date to July 14th would give absentee voters ample time to obtain ballots and would be helpful in managing the election.

Ogunquit Select Board member Robert Winn agreed that moving the town meeting to July 14 makes sense.

I like the idea that we’re giving it a bit more time and giving people the opportunity at the last minute to put their votes in there and again time for hopefully this thing to work its way through,” stated Winn.
