Patriot's Day Weekend 2016 - Ogunquit Maine

Ogunquit, Maine knows how to celebrate Patriot’s Day in true New England fashion – and this weekend our ‘beautiful place by the sea’ was full of people who came to join in on the full slate of activities, see the coastal sights, shop at the small town stores, dine at the restaurants and catch some coastal air.

The Hartwell House Inn (along with us here at the Ogunquit Barometer) sponsored space at the Thompson Green Plaza on Shore Road, just out side of Perkins Cove for the ‘Display of Women’s Military Wear’ put on by the Corsets and Chevrons Women’s Living History Group. The knowledgeable women presenting the display were happy to share their passion with all who passed by – and served as authentically costumed living history re-enactors, too.

On Saturday evening, there was also a re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party in Perkins Cove. A large congregation of viewers from Barnacle Billy’s (many of them drinking the famous Rum Punch and eating lobster) – all the way down to the Harbormaster’s Building watched with interest as ‘colonists’ acted in defiance of tax laws by throwing ‘chests of tea’ off of the Bunny Clark.
