There aren’t many events during the Ogunquit calendar year that necessitate the closing of Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine to automobile traffic.
That’s just one of the many reasons to have visited the annual High Heel Dash during Ogunquitfest this year!
If you’re looking for another – how about watching people (mostly) unaccustomed to even walking in (minimum) 2″ high heels as they attempt to participate in a footrace beginning near Barnacle Billy’s, proceeding past the Perkins Cove Footbridge, around the Lobster Shack, back past MC Perkins Cove, and back in the direction of The Oarweed Restaurant and Barnacle Billy’s again? Did we mention that many of the participants are dressed in outrageously colorful costumes?
Still need more? Factor in that the proceeds from the event are donated to the excellent cause of the Frannie Peabody Center!
Plus prizes, auctions, music, and much more! It’s easy to see why the High Heel Dash draws such a large crowd to Perkins Cove during Ogunquitfest year after year!
Here are a few photos I took during this year’s festivities!
