The Ogunquit Parks and Recreation registration table was colorful and inviting with smiling committee-member faces, a painting by artist Charlene M Taubert, and even Miss Mermaid Maine greeting the participants!
Down on the beach, individuals and families were all in deep focus crafting their fantastic creations out of sand, shells, seaweed, and unbridled shoreline imagination!
Parents, in many cases, couldn’t help but pitch in and and lend an experienced hand to their children in the process of creating their ephemeral masterpieces! All in good fun at this fun, family-friendly, Ogunquit tradition!
Celebrity judges (including Jim Lewer PLUS Eric + Charlene Taubert of Ogunquit Barometer) walked the beach and spoke to the creators of each and every piece of sand art before tallying their votes and announcing the prize recipients — but, truly, everyone who participated in the cherished Ogunquit event should count themselves as a winner.
After all, is there any better way to pass a late summer Sunday morning in New England?
