A little bit of early fall weather crept into town on Sunday, August 25th giving a slightly chilly start to Ogunquit’s 2019 Sandcastle Building Contest – hosted by the Ogunquit Parks and Recreation Committee!
And while the ocean breezes may have been a little cooler than usual – the sandcastle competition was hot, hot, hot!
Participants headed to Ogunquit’s Main Beach with a variety of shovels, pails, and other implements of construction which they put to excellent use crafting sand creations in their best effort to take home the top prize for their category!
Professional sandcastle builder, Kevin Lane of createacastle.com, was also on hand at the event using his unique molds to create a demo sandcastle with elaborate towers.

This free family fun event drew over 40 entries for 2019 – and a capable crew of passionate local volunteers organized and executed this always-highly-anticipated event in such a way that it left smiles on the faces of all who took part in the excitement.
