Sunday, September 4th was the perfect day for one of our FAVORITE Ogunquit traditions: The Annual Sandcastle Building Contest for 2022!
Early autumn might be just around the corner, but you would never have known it by the multitude of beach-goers participating in the festive summery fun of letting their inspiration run wild while creating beauty on the beach with nothing more than sand, shells, and seaweed in this beautiful place by the sea!
On the Ogunquit, Maine shoreline, children, adults, and children-at-heart were lost in the flow of embracing their imaginations and sculpting anything and everything they could conjure up with the implements of their trade: beach buckets, shovels, and their hands!
The end results? Adult: Giant crawling (Jeff Santa Cruz). Kids 12 and under: 1st place: Inside out (Zoe Jo Doin-Licam); 2nd place: Crocs (Tevya). Family: 1st place: Buddy’s Catch (Hackley family); Polar Bear (Jarochym family); 3rd place: Octopus (Jordoin family).
Congratulations to the winners and all who participated. There were 30 entries!
Join us in extending a HUGE hank you to the Ogunquit Parks and Recreation crew, participants, volunteers, judges and beach-goer’s for supporting such a fun and positive event! After all, is there any better way to pass a late summer Sunday morning in New England?
