The Ogunquit Playhouse, sacred ground for summer stock theatre, opened its 2016 season last night for their annual ‘Hospitality Night’ with ‘Let It Be – a Celebration of the Music of the Beatles’.
From the innocence of the early days at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, followed by their American debut on the Ed Sullivan Show, through the swirling psychedelia of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and all the way to an ‘IMAGINE’-ary reunion gig set in the 80’s — this music-performance-heavy production with its five stars (the four Beatles and a mostly behind the scenes ‘one man orchestra’) truly captures the essence of what made these individuals, this band, and their songs so magical and enduring.
