Ogunquit Maine Reopens Two Beaches

Almost 2 months after the town of Ogunquit, Maine closed their beaches to protect residents and visitors from the spread of COVID-19, they have now decided to reopen two of those beaches subject to some limitations.

This is a decision similar to those being taken by neighboring communities in southern Maine including Kennebunk, Wells, and York.

Beginning on Monday May 18th, Ogunquit’s Main and Footbridge Beaches will be open from 5am -11pm for walking, surfing, paddling, and fishing.

People are expected to practice physical distancing and wear masks,” states Town Manager Patricia Finnegan. “If it becomes too crowded or unsafe, the beaches will be closed. The intent is for people to wear masks if they are or might be in close contact with people. On the beach, people can distance themselves, but not necessarily in the parking lots, on the sidewalks, or on the ramps leading to the beach.
